Styling a Versatile Plaid Dress

Hi all,

We can see spring coming in the distance. It's almost here, so it's the perfect time to speak about transitional pieces and this dress from Veronica Beard is a great example of an investment piece you can wear time and again, and any season too! So let's take a look:

PLAID WORKS EVERY SEASON

Plaid is a big print this year as we saw on multiple runways but it is also a classic that you should have no fear investing into. And a versatile dress that can carry the print nicely, and take you to work, out to an event or on vacation is a great purchase all around. This dress, in particular, is stretch-cotton and fits really nicely.

For this particular outing, it was COLD! So I had to layer it for warmth. First, I added a Commando long-sleeve bodysuit underneath and polka dot stockings and a Mr & Mrs. Italy jacket on top. Plus, I added a beanie because my head was freezing. To add a color pop, I opted for these red heels - also from Veronica Beard. Finally, the bag is from Mark Cross.

As I mentioned, the beauty of it is that it can be worn to many occasions and throughout the seasons, so it can be worn by itself or layered. But how do we style it?

For work, I recommend you wear it layered with a short-sleeve bodysuit underneath. Why? Two reasons: First, most offices don't find sleeveless dresses appropriate, but also because most offices are cold, so no problem layering up a little. The dress also transitions nicely into happy hour - with or without the bodysuit. Its length - hits below the knees - also makes the perfect work dress.
